Cement render
Cement rendering is a mixture of sand, cement, lime, water or clay which fosters a smooth finish.
This attractive finish is also quite strong due to the addition of lime which prevents cracking on the surface when the mix finally dries.
It's used to protect the area of application from environmental factors such as rain and wind, and also provide thermal and sound insulation.
It's appearance can be improved through the use of coloured/texture coats, and is typically finalised in a sponge finish.
This is the most common type of render chosen, and can be applied to brick and concrete surfaces.
